King, noticing that Eda's eyes have turned black, remembers that those kinds of demons are sensitive to light, meaning they can use it to their advantage. He asks Luz to cast the light spell, but she doesn't know how to do it, but she then sees something on his phone for a moment, a pattern in the circle Eda made, and when she follows it, she manages to do the spell, thus making her first spell. Luz begins to cast more light spells and King gets Eda's attention to lead her to the spells, and when she does, they blind her with a much larger spell and knock her unconscious with it, giving her the elixir to bring her back to normal while she is unconscious.

A few days later, Luz begins to feel frustrated at how slowly Eda was teaching her magic. The witch, named Willow Park, is bothered by another witch named Amity Blight, who taunts her for being unable to get a good Abomination for the exam. After Amity leaves, Willow starts to feel with anger for being unable to make a good Abomination and because of Amity's mocks, and in that she realizes of Luz's presence, who was hiding in some bushes. In addition to her father's death, Luz struggled to adjust to life in Gravesfield throughout her childhood and into her teens, with most of the town's people resenting and ostracizing her for her antics and unusual behavior.

Luz and her friends manage to convince Boscha and the rest of the school to turn on her, resulting in her defeat once again.[17] In the epilogue, Kikimora is seen helping to rebuild the Boiling Isles, possibly as penance for her misdeeds. The Owl Beast is the manifestation of Eda's curse and is responsible for both Owl Eda and Harpy Eda. Due to a traumatic incident of clawing out her father's eye and her mother willing to take extreme measures to rid the curse, Eda lived in constant fear of the Owl Beast hurting her loved ones and came to view the curse as a disease.

As Lilith orders her taken away, Luz angrily jumps on Lilith, calling her a monster, but is easily overpowered, with Lilith ordering her to go back to her world saying she never belonged in the Demon Realm. In "Clouds on the Horizon", Luz gets a message from Amity saying that she's been grounded and that she needs her to come right away. After she and King meet up with Willow, Gus, and Hunter, they head to Blight Manor in order to rescue Amity. When Emira asks what Luz would say to her right then, Amity starts gaining back her resolve by noting the words of encouragement Luz would probably use as well as her determination to not let the world end before the two of them can go on a proper date.

As they were about to enter the portal, Amity paraphrased what Luz told her in "Knock, Knock, Knocking on Hooty's Door" about how it would be awesome if Luz was in her future. In the beginning of "Thanks to Them", Luz gave Amity a bandage for her hand while Amity stared at her with appreciation. Luz and Amity also worked together to come out to Camila, the latter of which approved of their relationship. Although not outright shown, it is revealed in "Thanks to Them" that while in the Human Realm, Luz did fulfill her promise and take Amity out on dates, as seen in photos inside Willow's scrapbook. Some of the activities the duo did include going for a swim and drinking milkshakes together. Luz also introduced Amity to the non-hostile rain of the Human Realm, the two ended up twirling together and embracing each other.
However, since she has been living with her she has grown to accept her as part of her circle. Eda found it amusing that someone like Luz would not only look up to her, but also openly want to learn from her. In "Witches Before Wizards", Eda did not seem to have any interest in teaching Luz about magic and only wanted to have her around to help with chores and make deliveries. After the group does some research, they learn that titan magic can cancel out the Collector's magic. As she and Lilith suggest putting the Collector in another tablet, King is against it, instead opting to try and reason with the Collector to get him to see the error of his ways. Due to her obsession with playing Hexes Hold'em, Eda forgets to top up on her supply of elixir and the symptoms of her curse begin to show.
She often feels as though she does not fit in, which results in poor self-worth when she messes up and a desire to be seen as special and valued, and it is implied her low self-esteem has caused her to have a guilt and martyr complex. She learns she can use magic by drawing glyphs that she sees in the environment and through spell circles witches cast to do magic. After becoming an official student of Hexside, she is disappointed upon learning students are not allowed to study more than one type of magic. Later, however, with help from the detention track students, Luz saves the school from a magic-eating Greater Basilisk who disguised herself as the Emperor's Coven inspector. As a result, Principal Bump is convinced mixing magic is not bad and lets the other trouble-making students study more than one track, with Luz becoming the first student officially allowed to learn magic from all tracks.

Eda sees that the Owl Beast feels just as trapped as her and forms a truce between her and the beast. Once Eda accepts the curse as a part of her and cooperates with the beast, she can transform into Harpy Eda, a hybrid form that combines the Owl Beast's power with Eda's wit. In order to transform, she makes a deal with the Owl Beast which, on Eda's end, involves eating voles for the Owl Beast. Throughout season two, Eda and Lilith begin to repair their fractured relationship.

In "A Lying Witch and a Warden", Luz describes herself as someone who enjoys "editing anime clips to music and reading fantasy books with convoluted backstories" while in "The First Day", her aura is described as "strong and silly like a baby's laughter". Hunter is a skilled and driven young witch, serving as the Golden Guard and the Emperor’s right-hand man. Throughout the series, his loyalty is tested, and he finds himself questioning his allegiance as he interacts with Luz and her friends. This distrust of Kikimora was soon proven correct when she callously betrayed Luz and Amity in favor of a potential promotion by Belos during their attempt to reunite her with her family. Since then, they have remained bitter enemies, with Kikimora having led the attack on the Owl House following Luz and Hunter's intrusion into Belos' mindscape, though Eda managed to escape, resulting in Kikimora being demoted in rank once again. Initially, due to her status of being a wanted criminal, Eda and Hunter served as enemies during the latter's time as the Golden Guard.
Soon after, like the others, Luz was crestfallen when witnessing Flapjack sacrificed himself to heal Hunter's injuries. Despite this, it was ultimately Flapjack's death that motivated Luz to join her friends in returning to the Demon Realm, determined to avenge him by defeating Belos once and for all. The two would eventually first meet in "Escaping Expulsion", when she had her, Willow, and Gus expelled from Hexside to keep them from "distracting" Amity, an action that earned Luz's anger. Following this, Luz made an attempt to stand up to Odalia and later offered to help with her company's weapons presentation later that night if she agreed to let them return to Hexside. Though Odalia agreed to the proposal, she, in truth, had no intention of honoring her word, and after using Luz as test-subject for many of her weapons, attempted to have her killed by the Abomaton 2.0 out of sadistic spite. This nearly resulted in Luz's death, had it not been for Amity's arrival, who threatened to destroy the Abomaton in front of her parents' investors, prompting Odalia to reluctantly agree to let Luz, Willow, and Gus back into Hexside.
After she finds a shelf of crystal balls, she tries to use one, only for Bump to catch her. Bump then places her in the detention track, since an inspector is coming and he wants the school to look good. Matt Tholomule, known as Matty, is an endearing character in “The Owl House” who brings a sense of friendship and support to the narrative. Through the voice acting, Matty’s warm personality shines through, resonating with the audience. In the narrative, Matty acts as the main character’s close friend and confidant, providing support and a sympathetic ear. His commitment, sensitivity, and sincere desire to serve others are among his most noteworthy qualities.
Luz tries brushing it off, saying that it's no excuse for how she acted and that it happened a while ago. But upon seeing Amity's shock that she was hiding something so important, Luz, realizing how much trouble was caused by hiding it, breaks the facade. She tells Amity about how her dad would bring flowers for her and her mom on their birthdays, and that after he passed, she and her mom would pick flowers for each other instead, followed by visiting her dad's grave, and spending the day together. She then notes that it is the first year she's not with her mom, and admits to being jealous or needing a distraction when Amity mentioned the problems with her dad. After Luz apologizes, Amity attempts to console her, but they hear some screaming in the distance before she can do so. Amity starts running, and Luz, finding herself unable to move, tells Amity she'll catch up later.
It is soon revealed that there is a point to Eda's distance when in "The Intruder" she reveals her curse to her. While Eda takes advantage and occasionally pokes fun at Luz, she does care about her as she feels that she has a responsibility to look after her "student". She begins to take her job as a teacher seriously and wants Luz to be proud of her. In "Something Ventured, Someone Framed", it's revealed that Eda did not want Luz to go to Hexside School because she wanted to protect her; she did not agree with how they teach magic.
As she continues down the streets of Bonesborough, Eda is picked up by Roselle and Dottie, who mistake her for a lost pet. At first, Eda is against the idea of two old ladies babying her, but changes her mind after a few belly rubs. She is taken to Roselle and Dottie's kitty café, and is repulsed by the new cutesy environment she is placed in.
